Concepts:

My work is complicated and multifaceted like real life.  I want to connect with the viewer emotionally or intellectually on visual impact to elicit a response. The vitality and impact of my work comes in the form of communication with the viewer. Each piece should inspire the viewer to reach his/her own truth and meaning.

Methodology:

I start with an idea and refine it in my minds eye for minutes or months.  Assemble the components of the work – paint, canvas, objects and prepare the piece usually in one session. The surface of the work is prepared as an invitation to entice the viewer to reach deep within themselves to find their own meaning.   I use the archaic method of paint on canvas as a foundation for my work – scary method – I know, for today’s art scene.  However, I intentionally use materials ordinary to my audience so they have a familiar avenue to the essence of the work – and are faced with the question or statement that is being posed – not distracted by the usage of abstract materials.
